New Sports Being Added

Toledo rec Sports is excited to announce the addition of 2 new sports. Here at Toledo rec Sports, we pride ourselves with helping kids stay active and healthy. So, we are adding rugby and field hockey to our sports list. This will provide more opportunity get active outside and also try a new sport while doing it.

For those who are unaware of what rugby is. It is a sport that originated in England and is played with an oval ball and is a very physical sport. So, if you're son or daughter needs to run off some steam this might be the perfect sport for them. Field hockey on the other hand is quite the opposite. Instead of brute strength it involves tremendous precision. It is a non-contact sport and is played with a curved stick and a small ball. If you or your child is interested in trying these new sports please come to our new sports open house December 20th to try out the sport!

The addition of these two sports will give kids the opportunity to try a new sport and grow the game of a non-mainstream sport. We are welcoming all ages to get involved. The main reason we chose these two sports is because they are great for building teamwork skills and social skills for the kids. We pride ourselves on the connections we make with the children and the connection they make with each other.

The coach of the field hockey team is Rhelsie Caabe. She has 7 years of coaching experience at Ottawa Hills High School. She also played at the college level at North Caroline University where she won a national championship with them. She prides herself on growing the game in her hometown Toledo where she was born. Our Rugby coach is named Harry Kane is from London England. He moved to Toledo at a young age but grew up in England playing rugby. He has coached many local rugby teams in the area and is very excited to get this program up and running! Come meet the coaches December 20th at our open house!
